Rebecca is a student at the University of St Andrews and a level 1 gymnastics coach, and she has been coaching gymnastics since she turned 16. Her favourite things to coach are floor and vault and when she was a gymnast she loved putting on displays for her parents!

Grace Warrington - Assistant Coach
On Thursday evenings Ruth is supported by Assistant Coach, Grace Warrington, who has joined our coaching team this year. Grace is a psychology student at the University of St Andrews. She first started artistic gymnastics at the age of 4 and continued training and competing till she was 18. She started volunteer coaching at the age of 12, and when she was 16 she gained her level one coaching qualification. Since gaining her qualification she holds coaching positions at 2 clubs back at home and also helps at Junior Saints here in St Andrews.
Coaching History
Flic Flac was established in 1980 with Val Oswald, a P.E. teacher, as its first Head Coach. Val was coach until 1987 when Vivian Faichney took over.
After the move to Madras School (Kilrymont site) in 1990, Lucy Robinson, a former gymnast, took over as Head Coach in 1991 and it is at this time that the club started to go from strength to strength. Several girls were part of the Fife Squad and at least 3 of them qualified for the Scottish squad – quite an achievement for what is a small club.
The Club became well-known locally with the girls participating in events around Scotland.
Katy Goldsmith took over and she took a squad up to the Annual Gymfest in Inverness.
Robert Cuthbertson took over the role of Head Coach in 2011. He coached extensively across Fife schools and council facilities. Robert stood down in 2017 and was succeeded by Ruth Wright who stepped up to the Head Coach role from assistant coach. Ruth was Head Coach for the club until 2019 when she left to pursue her teaching qualifications, when the Head Coach position passed to Alex Lednicky.
The club took an extended break between March 2019 and October 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We welcomed back Alex as Head Coach in October 2021 alongside Lucy Phillips who helped us to get classes back up and running at the brand new Madras College. We also welcomed back Ruth who began coaching for us again following her return to Fife.
Ruth Wright has once again stepped up to the role of Flic Flac Head Coach from Summer 2022, as Alex has completed her studies at St Andrews and moved on to new horizons.
